private house north coast
d-on architects designed the renovation and extension of a rural house near the north coast of northern ireland which dates back to the 19th Century - and shown on the very first ordnance survey of Ireland. The existing rear wall had collapsed and had been rebuilt in block work, with the majority of the property being in disrepair. d-on architects designed a proposal which subtly added to the original building by extending the lower byre upwards to accommodate four bedrooms and a bathroom. The existing building originally housed two large rooms which were opened up to provide one larger open-plan living/kitchen/dining space. The property is now a small attraction in its own right and is now used as a rental property for tourists visiting the north coast.
